Katie grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and became a full-time resident of Washington State in 1999.
Having played golf since the age 5, Katie's golfing career took off when she received a full golf scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She graduated in 1989 with a degree in Journalism. 1990 was a turning point in Katie's golf career. She was a member of the victorious Curtis Cup team
and was ranked #1 Amateur in the country while winning the Women's Western, Women's Eastern, the Dougherty Championship and The Sally Championship.
Katie turned pro in the fall of 1990 and went on to win the LPGA Qualifying School to gain exempt status her first year on tour in 1991.
After playing the LPGA tour for 10 years and meeting her husband Steve at the LPGA Safeco Classic at Meridian Valley,
she decided to stop playing the tour to be home with her husband.
Greg Manley graciously gave Katie the opportunity to teach at Meridian Valley C.C. where she enjoys teaching players of all ages and all abilities.
